The type of music i listen to varies on what type of mood I'm in and who i am around. My go to type of music genre is usually Motown and 1950/1920's rock. Throughout the years i have been influenced by the type of music my parents listen to. I was constantly surrounded by the sound of music playing on cassettes and the radio in the morning in the car as a child, especially Motown music. I also think this is the main part of why i don't enjoy listening to "21st century" music as much as people my age do.
This is one of my parents favourite Motown songs and artists Martha reeves and the vandellas-heatwave
Regarding the 1950's music i found my passion for that one on my own. I started shopping in vintage places and buying items then started listening to the music especially Elvis Presley albums on my phone whilst doing my homework and watching documentaries on how elvis became a singer etc. I prefer to listen to this type of music as i feel that the lyrics actually mean something to the artists, instead of words put together in an order to rhyme like rap songs today.
I also like modern singers like Lana Del Rey who sings in a 1920 pop style with references to Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and JFK in her songs. I first started listening to her when me and my sister found her songs and videos on youtube and then she eventually became a well known singer in america producing albums and doing world tours. I listen to her music on my phone when doing my chores or when i go for a walk. This is one of my favourite songs shades of cool by Lana Del Rey from her new album Ultraviolence.
